Oktober Fest: Amerikan Style

We had a little Oktober Fest a couple of weeks ago.
In honor of Lara.

Ten things from the evening:
(which really have nothing to do with Oktober Fest at all)

1) We have A LOT of walnuts around the firepit.
We picked up 15 bags.
Great family bonding time.2) I like to cram as much as possible
on the left side of the table.
Leaving the right side available for...nothing.3) We've missed our firepit.
We hadn't used it since spring.
Crazy hot weather.
Stupid busy-ness.4) Jobie kinda' plays with his nose when he sucks his thumb.
And...
5) I like Lara's hair straight.
It's cute.
But it's cute curly too.6) My "planter" that I bought makes a pretty cool cooler.
Maybe it won't be a planter afterall.
And...
7) We go all out.
Big K root beer.
Only the good stuff for our friends and family.
We did have soft pretzels too.
It was Oktober Fest: root beer and pretzels.8) Ezra's a pyro.
Doesn't surprise us.9) My dad is great.
I have to say that.
He read my post from a week or two ago.
Yesterday.
(he's a little behind)
I'm pretty sure he doesn't read my blog.
Unless somebody points it out to him.
And someone did.
Thank you so much, whoever you are.
Dad won't tell me who.
But he gave me a phone call last night.
So now I have to be nice for awhile.
Christmas is coming, you know.10) Apparently our guests like to come in shifts.
Shift 1.Shift 2.So ends another exciting evening at the Entz's.

Not Sure...

I'm ready for this.Brookelynn has been begging lately.
Begging to drive.
Not sure where it came from.
She's not even 12 yet.We were out in the country this weekend.
Ryan stopped.
Asked Brookie if she wanted to drive.
Kicked me out of the passenger's seat.
And away we went.

Lara was really not sure.
This is how she looked.
The whole 3 minutes Brookie drove.Brookie didn't quite make the turn into her uncle's drive.
Had to back up.
She learned it's harder to get it into gear than she thought.
She'll really have a shock when she learns manual. She didn't do too bad on the turn.
Although, at one point,
I did think we might end up in the pig pen.But we arrived.
Safely.
And with our sanity intact. She actually did pretty good.
The first time I drove with my dad did not go well.
At all.
It ended with me in tears.
My dad very angry.
And this statement:
I am NEVER driving with you again.
From me.
Although my dad was probably thinking it.

And I haven't.
I have not been in the driver's seat with my dad in a car since.

He just better hope I change my mind.
Someday he's going to need me.
To drive him to a doctor's appointment.
For the enema he's in desperate need of.
He'll be begging me then.

Not sure...
I'm ready for that either.

60th

My daddy's 60th was last week.
He likes things low-key.
Just my brother's family and our family for supper.
He wanted lasagna.
My mom and I each made a pan.
We have the best lasagna recipe.
That's my opinion, of course.
A little time consuming.
But wonderful! My parents best friends came for dessert.
They spend every Friday evening together.
And usually at least one trip a year.
With random fishing trips thrown in.
No free babysitting on Friday nights for us!
Well, okay...
Occasionally they will make an exception.
Don't want my mom too mad at me when she sees this. There's my daddy.
I like this one.
Never too old to blow out birthday candles! His nick-name in high school was Zoom.
He was a good athlete.
I mean is a good athlete.
Almost got myself in trouble again.

Happy birthday, Daddy!
Love you tons!
