Sign Language

Ezzie style.

With each letter of the alphabet Ezzie learns,
he also learns how to sign that letter.
This is what he showed me this morning:What is this Mommy?
I hate it when he asks that.
What if I answer wrong.

Then he said:
I made it up myself.
Oh boy, heap on the pressure.

Ummm...
I hesitate.
And, if I wait long enough,
he can't wait any longer
and blurts it out.
Cuz he can't hold it in any longer.

M-O-M.
Mom!

Best Friends

Remember this?
Well, it isn't true anymore.
Ezra has a best friend. For the past six weeks,
when Jobie and I have walked to school
to get Ezzie from morning kindergarten,
we haven't brought just Ezzie home.
We have brought an extra boy with us as well.
I have watched him from time to time over the last 2 years.
But these past weeks have sealed the deal.
These two boys are now nearly inseparable.Do you ever wonder how the decisions
you make as a parent
will affect your children's friendships?
Did my decision to watch my friend's son,
influence Ezra to become friends with him?
If it did,
I'm glad.
He is one happy little boy.
Who loves having a best friend.Today the boys began all day kindergarten.
Jobie is napping.
It is quiet in my house.

I miss them.
So excited for them.
And for me.
Only one at home.
All day.
Monday thru Friday.
But I miss my little boy.
Who gives the best hugs and kisses.

Why does watching your kids grow up
have to be so bittersweet?

Fingerprint Friday

This is the boy that I thought would be my baby.
The child we thought we may not be able to have.
The precious baby that came nearly two years after a miscarriage. The boy that filled my arms with sweetness.Psalm 127:3
Sons are a heritage from the LORD,
children a reward from him.

Each week Beki at therustedchain hosts Fingerprint Friday and uses a song by Steven Curtis Chapman as a springboard. Join in. It's a great way to be reminded of God's presence.

Some Pictures and a Quote

All by Ezzie.
I had a great idea.
But now it's stuck in my head.
And I can't remember it.

A Memory...

I would like to keep.
And cherish.

It had been a long time
since I had played a game with Ezzie.
So long, that I had forgotten that it actually was fun.

We sorted the money.
Counted the money.
And finally were ready to play.
After playing for a little,
we remembered to use the box lid
to roll the dice in.
So much nicer than readjusting the houses
everytime you throw the dice.

We talked about counting on when you are adding.
Love his little finger working hard.
We talked about counting by 2's.
He has a fondness for 2's.
He was so proud of his collection.
And he wiggled.
A lot.
His teachers say he sits nice in Sunday School.
I believe them.
He always sits nice at storytime.
But any other time...
he is one wiggly boy.

In between every turn,
he was doing this.
Or this.
Or this.
Or this.
I loved playing with him.
Talking with him.
Teaching him.
Seeing him get so excited when he beat me.
Watching his little hand work.
And I love that little mole on his wrist.
When he was a baby
he thought it was dirt.
And would work and work on it
to get it off.
I'm glad he wasn't successful.

It's the little things...

Wishful Thinking

"Mommy, the second youngest is in charge today.
That would be me!"

Isn't it nice to dream?
