Bon Voyage

It's finally here.
Time for our adventure.
Just the two of us.
No kids.
Our splurge.

The bags are nearly packed.
Both sets of grandparents are anxious and excited.
The kids are thinking they will be spoiled.
Even my toes are ready.
Thanks to my sis-in-law.
Tomorrow morning we're off to Florida.
And then, Saturday, the Western Caribbean.
Ahhhh.

Today I'll give my kiddos extra hugs and kisses.
Because I truly will miss them.
And their goofy grins.
But, ohhh, the fun we will have.
Just the two of us.
Be back in a week or so.
But don't be expecting any pics in a bikini.
Or Speedos.
No, no, no.
Will. NOT. be. happening.

Purples

We have a mulberry tree in our backyard.
The kids love to eat mulberries.
All four of them.

They come in with purple-stained feet and hands.
Purple-stained faces and clothes.
All four of them.

Last year I promised them a mulberry pie.
Promise was broken.
So today Brookie picked mulberries.
And asked if I would make a pie.
Of course she did.

Problem.
She only picked 2 cups.
Not enough for a good fruit pie.
Not that I'm the expert.
Just what I've been told.

Solution.
1 cup of fresh strawberries.
1 cup of fresh blueberries.
Happened to have them on hand.
How often does that happen?
In our house, rarely.

So, I made a strawberry-blueberry-mulberry pie.
The kids declared it a hit.
All four of them.

Greens

Well, here it is.
My first harvest from the garden.
I've never grown lettuce before.
Wow was it easy.
And it's pretty tasty too.
Now I'm just waiting for the
tomatoes, green peppers and cucumbers.
Then I just might possibly enjoy the best salad ever.
Cuz there's nothing like your very own,
fresh from the backyard, produce.

Skybox

A friend of ours had extra tickets
to the Wingnuts ball game tonight.
Skybox tickets.

The kids loved it.

A storm came in during the fifth inning.
We were smart
and left before they postponed the game.
Ryan was happy to leave.
He wanted to get home to watch another game on tv.
The Dodgers.
Crazy guy.

Too Busy

This week has been so busy.
We haven't even had time to do one of my favorite things.
Sit in front of the chimenea in the evening.
VBS in the morning.
I was teaching.
Soccer clinic in the afternoon.
Soccer practice in the evening.
And I thought summer was going to be relaxing.

I Got Nothin'

Nothing to say.
No great ideas.
Nothing.
And I wonder how some of you post everyday.
pamperingbeki just completed her 1000th post.
I'm on what?...my 40 somethingth?
And I'm already out of material?
I hope my kids do something hilarious soon.
Or I'm in trouble.

So, for now, I'll leave you with a photo
of what I continue to deal with on a daily basis.

Chalk Art Festival

I love our town.
That will be evident by the many pictures.
I couldn't narrow them down.
So, here we go...

We walked downtown Saturday morning for the Chalk Art Festival.
It's an event presented by our local Youthville.
Three blocks of Main Street were closed to traffic.

Local musicians and bands showcased their abilities.
And local artists donated their time and talents.
The pieces they created were sold in a silent auction.
But the best part of all...
Any one can sign-up for a square of sidewalk.
And create their own masterpiece.

Brookelynn wasted no time.
She knew what she wanted to draw.
And was done quickly.
Iguana.

Ezra practiced a lion at home.
But was moved to design something else once we arrived.
Fishbones.

He got a little over zealous.
And spilled onto Jake's square.
Notice Jake's is blank.
He had a difficult time deciding what to do.
I told him no snow cone until he was done.
Addidas.
My guy worked the longest on his.
Our good friend owns a bookshop in town.
Thus his inspiration.
pages.
It was hot.
The snow cones/cups melted fast.
But they were good...
to the last...
drop.

The whole day was.
