Fingerprint Friday

Yesterday we got an unexpected "snow day".
Last week, we had 5 inches of snow on the ground.
And the wind chill was crazy low.
I was prepared for a snow day.
Wanted one even.
Yesterday, I was not ready for one.
And we didn't really need one.

Instead of cleaning,
I coped by yelling at my kids.
Too much.
And getting frustrated.
Too much.
And frowning.
Too much.
(I had to put extra moisturizing cream on my face this morning.
To try to reduse those extra frown lines I'm sure I created.)

You know I love my kids.
But by the time Ryan got home at 7:30 last night,
I said: I want to be done being a mom for the day.
Then he left for his basketball game.
I couldn't be done until they all went to bed.
And I hollered at one kid.
For really no reason.
Right before bed.
Then had to apologize.
Nice. When I woke up this morning,
the Lord brought these verses to mind.
Thank you, Lord.

Lamentations 3:22-24
Because of the LORD’s great love
we are not consumed,
for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is Your faithfulness.
I say to myself,
“The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for Him.”

Each week Beki at therustedchain hosts Fingerprint Friday and uses a song by Steven Curtis Chapman as a springboard. Join in. It's a great way to be reminded of God's presence.

It's hard being a mom. I'm not always patient either and thank God with you for a new start today.

My 8 year old has started handing me a stress ball to squeeze when I'm getting a little nutso. A reality check from an 8 year old. Lovely.

Oh I have been there more times than I care to admit.
