burned to the ground January 29, 2008.
We got the phone call at 2:30 in the morning.
We had just been there for a service 6 hours earlier.
We had left a couple of our kids' books in the back pew.
My guy grew up there.
As did his dad.
And his grandpa.
It was gorgeous.
The devastation was complete.
Nothing salvageable.
When the church burned down,
we were without a pastor.
No church building.
No pastor.
Last Sunday, our new pastor preached for the first time.
We are so excited to have him and his family here.
I found myself thinking how he might be our kids' pastor
through their teenage years.
And how maybe one day he'll be the pastor
that preforms the ceremony when Brookie gets married.
Crazy, I know.
And, our new building is going up.
We should be in it by next spring.
God is good.
Even when it's hard to understand His ways,
I know He is sovereign, omniscient and loving.
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!
For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.
To Him be the glory forever.
Amen.
Each week pamperingbeki hosts Fingerprint Friday and uses a song by Steven Curtis Chapman as a springboard. Join in. It's a great way to be reminded of God's goodness.

I love those verses. Such security.Do you know the song that goes with the words? I love it. It sticks in your head.
Oh, what a terrible loss for your congregation! I am so sorry. It's good to know that God always bring blessings even out of difficult circumstances.
the picture of the church in flames brings tears to my eyes. The blessing is that no one got hurt. This is a very emotional, heartfelt fingerprint friday that I will be thinking about all weekend. So glad you have a great new pastor!
I remember that. :( Such a sad loss.
God is so faithful to us, though!
